What’s the difference between an employment pass (EP) and an entrepreneur pass (EntrePass)?

Both an Employment Pass (EP) and an Entrepreneur Pass (EntrePass) are valid options for foreigners who want to start a business in Singapore.

However, an EntrePass is designed for experienced and accomplished investors or founders, while an EP is designed for more general employees and executives. Hence, there are different eligibility requirements such as an EntrePass applicant needing to have at least 30 percent of shares in their founded company.

You can consult with us to find out the exact differences in the required documents and criteria.

Can I apply for an employment pass (EP) before incorporating a company?

Unfortunately, you need to finish your incorporation process before applying for an Employment Pass (EP).
If you want to apply for a visa before incorporating your company, your best option is an Entrepreneur Pass (EntrePass).

Can I bring my family with me to Singapore?

Yes. If you have an Employment Pass (EP), Entrepreneur Pass (EntrePass), or S Pass, you can get dependent visas for your spouse and unmarried children under 21 years old. These have different requirements.

If you have an Employment Pass or S Pass, you need to have a fixed monthly salary of minimum SGD 6.000 and a sponsorship from a Singapore-based company.

If you have an Entrepreneur Pass (S Pass), you need to have an annual business spending of minimum SGD 100.000 and employ at least three full-time employees or one local professional, manager, or executive.

If I change jobs, do I need to get a new employment pass (EP)?

Yes, you’ll need to apply for a new Employment Pass (EP) tied to your new employer. However, you won’t need to cancel your previous EP.
